Privacy Policy

Simple Note Pro · Last updated 3 October 2026

In short: your notes, checklists, pictures and reminders are stored only on your phone. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking by the developer. The one exception is Google's on-device text reader, which sends Google basic, anonymous usage statistics. It never sends your pictures or your notes.

1. Who this covers

This policy explains how the Android app Simple Note Pro (package com.holymanzion.simplenotepro, "the app") handles information. The app is published by an independent developer, who can be contacted at the address at the end of this page.

2. What you put in the app stays on your phone

Notes, checklists, labels, colours, reminders, pictures you add, and the text read from those pictures are saved in the app's private storage on your device. The developer has no server and never receives any of it. The app does not ask you to create an account or sign in.

The developer does not collect, sell or share:

3. Google ML Kit (text in photos)

To make the words in your pictures searchable, the app uses Google ML Kit text recognition. The recognition runs on your device: your pictures and the text read from them are not uploaded.

ML Kit does send Google limited information about how the feature is working. According to Google's ML Kit data disclosure, this covers:

Google uses this for diagnostics and usage analytics, sends it encrypted (HTTPS), and states that it does not transfer it to third parties. Its handling is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. This is why the app holds Android's internet permission. The app itself uses no network connection.

4. Permissions and what they are for

PermissionUsed for
NotificationsShowing the reminders you set. You can turn them off in Android settings at any time.
Alarms & reminders (exact alarms)Making reminders go off at the minute you chose. Without it they may arrive a few minutes late.
Run at startupSetting your reminders again after the phone restarts.
Fingerprint / biometricsThe optional app lock. Android handles the check itself: the app only learns whether it succeeded and never receives fingerprint or face data.
Internet and network stateGoogle ML Kit's usage statistics described in section 3.
Wake lock and foreground serviceAdded by Android's background-work library, which runs automatic backups reliably.

The app does not hold the camera, storage or photo permissions. To take a photo it opens your camera app, and to add pictures it uses Android's photo picker. The app only receives the pictures you choose.

5. Backups and sharing are under your control

6. Keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays on your device until you delete it. Notes moved to the trash are deleted permanently after 30 days, or immediately if you empty the trash. Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored. Backup files you exported are not affected, because they live wherever you saved them.

7. Security

Your notes are kept in storage that Android reserves for this app, so other apps cannot read it, and your phone's own device encryption protects it at rest. The optional app lock adds a fingerprint, face or screen-lock check before the app opens.

8. Children

The app is a general-purpose note-taking tool and is not directed at children under 13. The developer collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

9. Changes to this policy

If the app's handling of information changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. The current version is always available at holymanzion.github.io/simple-note-pro/privacy_policy.html.
